Blessing in Disguise

"Can we uninstall 2020,

this version has a virus in it"

was the popular meme this year. With COVID19 bringing the world to a standstill, I could not think of anything positive about 2020 until I deliberately began to write. I asked myself, ‘unwanted holidays’, ‘social distancing’, and ‘mental trauma’, is it all what the pandemic gave us or there is another side of coin unfelt?

Definitely true, we stifled with the new normal, but didn’t work from home and social distancing actually made us more socially connected with our loved ones and ourselves.

From the fast-paced life of time scarcity being suddenly stopped with a stop watch as in fiction, we all came to our roots again and learnt that life is transient and goes on despite adversities. No pandemic, no hurdle can ever stop the flow of life just as the water flowing in river does not stop because of a rock in its way and we humans the only ‘self-conscious’ being on the land did really find a way for almost everything, this year proved to be a ‘switch on’ button for our innovative minds finding solutions to take reality to virtuality.

From Dalgona coffee, to trying out cooking with the family, to pursuing hobbies together, this year gave us unforgettable memories for our lifetime and made us more mentally stable by taking us on a roller coaster ride of going extremely lazy to disciplining ourselves again.

Somebody once said “We realize importance of something, only when it’s gone”, true that! This year made us grateful to the all time overlooked simple privileges of being alive, meeting friends every day, going school and studying offline. It made us smile as once we are grateful; happiness comes from within.

And not to forget, the best news headlines of 2020 “Air pollution dropped!”. This year was the sweetest gift mother nature could receive from all of us in terms of healing the earth, rejuvenating rivers and letting other beings live freely too.

We are the race of survivors and must conclude that though we are not yet immuned with the vaccine but we are definitely immuned to face anything and bounce back stronger.

  7. Just don't agree with the point of being more mentally stable rest is really commendable. In my opinion I would say this year put people in depression because of not being able to have some basic priveleges due to loss of jobs and business .Also increased domestic violence, rapes and addiction to porn in some cases too.
