Don't Settle Abroad

Settling abroad? In my view, it is as if being Indian but supporting Britishers while living in British India in 1940s. India got independence in 1947, but Indians has altogether not lost the habit of living under domination and working as slaves for foreign authorities.

Most Indians leave India in search of better job opportunities and better living standards but Is that all you need to live? And anyway I won't hesitate to say that if you were not a coward, you wouldn't wish to leave India, instead you would want to try to develop the resources that attracted you in India itself.

Don't take your mother nation for granted. The air you have breathed, the water you have drunk, the love, care and support you've received through all the stages of life so far were free because you are Indian (citizen of India) and now wherever you go you will remain an Indian and there's no guarantee that you'll receive all resources for free with the same affection in other nations (not being their citizen) . In fact, the prevalence of hypocrisy and pretense in today's world make most countries which are not democratic and are given to wicked ways to pretend to be democratic though they do not give even simple rights such as right to speech and right to expression to all it's citizens.

Above all, living in one's own country gives you dignity to live life respectfully which is not free as it appears to be. Take the instance of our own lives. When we point out to people of Indian eastern states (because of their facial countenance) as Chinese or Nepalese, they feel left out despite being Indians .
We (including me) unintentionally disrespect people many a times in this way who are from a different state. This is the case of our own country. Think what would happen when you go out to a different nation. Despite your best efforts to speak or behave as natives, you will never be fully accepted in their society , no matter what, you will always have the tag called "foreigner" which in it's extreme is definitely bitter to experience.

Lastly if you say it's a human tendency to always choose better, fine go for education and other skill learning purposes but don't just settle there, come back and serve your nation, if not for yourself , for India, for the nation as you want to see it-developed and surrealistically attractive because of the availability of best resources in the world.

This blog is dedicated to myself because (see last column_filled it @April-2019 when the chapter was being taught)

It's written
*Developmental Goals*
Me : Make India in a position where none of it's citizens wants to leave India and settle Abroad  (& Sir ALK Abdul Kalam's dream of Developed India to be fulfilled)

No one can achieve this goal alone, help Mother India by understanding the deep vision. Make India into a global power, all you need to do is to be best in your field and serve earthians while staying in India.
Love you Indians:)

  1. If death is inevitable then I would like to die for my nation or simply never die.
At the same time I want to be a global citizen.

  2. If you are truly patriotic, and really want to develop your country, you need an international exposure. The reason people go abroad is not merely because they have better job prospects and standards of living, but because they really want to contribute to the world. As a person who has lived abroad, I can assure you that India gives you no opportunity to contribute your talent to the country, let alone the world. People get better opportunities abroad for doing their part for the world. Whatever good they do in another country eventually comes to India. A simple example of this would be smartphones, which were invented in other countries but have come to and are benefitting the citizens of India. Selfishly thinking about one's country is not patriotism, but aggressive nationalism - the very feeling that gave rise to the world wars. Living in a single country your whole life is like the frog living inside a well. Unless you live in a developed country yourself, you'll never understand what development is and how to bring it to India.

I appreciate the opinions you expressed in the blog and am by no means against it. I just wanted you to consider this opinion as well :)

  3. Something I forgot to add was that you can be patriotic inspite if living in another country and can contribute towards India's development while sitting in another country too.

    1. True dat we can contribute from everywhere. Infact from the time I wrote this blog to now my thoughts have developed for better coz one day it hit me that living in India and serving your nation is one thing and a wish to be a global citizen is another, so to say living abroad you just contribute to the world as one family. I had thought ithis and found it's manifestation more clearly in your comment, thank uh for bringing in that smile:). Though I hv never seen or met you but love your thoughts.
